So, pack up your car, put a hand on your heart
Say whatever you feel, be wherever you are
We ain't angry at you, love
You're the greatest thing we've lost

—Noah Kahan, You're Gonna Go Far

About me

You can call me Aquila, and I'll take any pronouns that are going. I'm a 20something non-binary queer Brit trying to survive under capitalism. I've always had a fascination with storytelling, fantastical worlds, and fictional languages, which is really what this website is all about: a place for me to geek out about the fantastical and to share my artistic/creative works that come out of that. Politically, I'm an anarcho-communist and queer anarcha-feminist of the KYLR (or 'spicy') variety, and I do my best to work towards a liberated future for all.

My main RPG system is Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (5e), which I have played and DMed consistently since release. I have also played in a handful of other systems (particularly Pathfinder 2nd Edition and the Cypher System), and I have read many more TTRPGs than I have played (a recent favourite is Nobilis 3e, an excellent example of a TTRPG with a soft magic system). When it comes to CRPGs, I'm a big Larian studios fan (especially Divinity 2: Original Sin—which I have played some 500 hrs of with my partner—and Baldur's Gate 3), with a penchant for classic BioWare RPGs (Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, etc.), and a soft spot for The Elder Scrolls Skyrim and Oblivion. I haven't played nearly as many indie RPGs as I would like, but I hope to fix that some day.

My degrees are in Linguistics, in no small part because of my long-term obssession with constructed languages ('conlangs') and a desire to better understand how language works so as to improve my art. Beyond RPGs, I'm a casual fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, Pokémon, and long walks in the forest on a cool Autumn evening. My favourite (fiction) books include Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea series, Maya Deane's Wrath Goddess Sing, Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and pretty much anything by Terry Pratchett. My favourite (non-fiction) book is probably the Bread Book, although David Graeber's Debt: The First 5000 Years is a close second.
