MTG Lands Calculator

This calculator provides a recommended number of lands for 60 and 99 card MTG decks, based on the formula proposed by Frank Karsten at Channel Fireball.

When using MDFC lands, treat tapped MDFCs as 0.38 lands and untapped MDFCs as 0.74 lands. 'Cheap' draw and ramp in the calculator refers to draw spells and ramp spells that cost 2 mana or less.

Please note that the actual best number (and composition!) of lands for your deck will depend on your expected curve-out, turn-by-turn mana requirements, and other individual properties of the deck—this calculation provides a solid foundation that will minimise unncessary flood and screw for a broad range of decks and strategies, but finding the right land count for your deck is something that can only be achieved through testing and playing the deck.
